What is the PTA?The PTA is the Parent/Teacher Association and we are lucky to have a very strong and dedicated one who have the very important role of raising additional funds, separate from the school budget which can be used to supply the school with some of the "extras" which would be otherwise unavailable.Recent fund raising has enabled our super new Playtrail to be constructed which has greatly enhanced our outdoor environment. Funds have also been used to buy a modular staging and PA system which supports our budding thespians, our shaded quiet area and new outdoor sound system to increase our enjoyment of our "Wake up and Shake up". The activities of the PTA, whilst mainly aimed at fund-raising and school support, do provide a valuable opportunity for the whole school to get together on an informal basis. Extra help is always welcome, whether it is in supporting events or as a member of the committee. NEW Swimming Pool CommitteeLast year the school's swimming pool was only used a handful of times. With this in mind, a Swimming Pool Committee has been formed to try and rejuvenate the pool to a standard where it can be made the most of. We've had a local swimming pool company come and have a look at it and give us a quote for the works required. The quote covers, amongst other things, a fresh lick of paint, some new pipe work and changing it over to a salt chlorinator Most importantly it includes heating the pool. This, in theory, would enable the pool to be used from May half term to October half term each year! We would also aim to open the pool to families during the summer holidays. All of this, however, comes at a price - £10000. It is a lot of money, but it is a long term investment. We hope to get local businesses involved for the initial outlay, but it is also going to need a lot of parent power! Please let us know what you think and take a look at the notes from our first meeting.We have applied for a Natwest Community Force award and need your votes to show the project has your support. The more votes the better our chance of getting some funding. Voting has now closed and we are waiting to hear if we have been successful in getting any money. Should know by the end of the month.... YES we did it. The Natwest Community Force have paid a whopping £6275 into the pool account. It's looking good for work to start next year!
