Chair of Governors' Letter to Parents, June 2011

Dear Parents,

I must first say how delighted we all were to hear that Emily Wilson White is on the road to recovery. That is the best news anyone could wish for - and puts everything else in proportion.

Ofsted Inspection
I am sure that you have read the school's recent Ofsted report by now and hope that you are pleased and encouraged by what you found there. The school is moving from strength to strength under the assured leadership of Paul Miller and the commitment of the whole staff and they are all to be congratulated. The governors are really proud to be part of this success and I hope you and your children are too. It is a team effort.

Pre-school 40th Birthday Party
This was a very enjoyable party and I would like to say a big thank you to Rosie Cunningham our Pre-School link governor for her skill and enthusiasm in masterminding the whole event.

Home-School Agreement
You have now all received a copy of the reinstated Home-School Agreement and the majority of you and your children have signed it. In subsequent years, this will be distributed when a child first starts school. If you have not already signed, it is not too late to do so. The Agreement is an affirmation that we are all working for the same goals and values.

Uniform Sale
The governors recently held a used uniform sale before and after school in the hall. We sold a lot of the clothes and made a profit of £75. As the governors do not hold money of their own, we have donated this sum to the PTA to use as necessary. We plan to hold another sale after the summer.

Home-School Communication
I do hope that you are finding from our website that the weekly newsletter from Paul Miller, the frequent news flashes and updates, as well as the improved PTA site, have further helped communication between home and school.
I would be very interested to hear your views because this is an important issue to get right. Please email me via the school or drop in a note if you have anything to say about this.

I hope that all your children enjoy their last half term of the school year and have a happy time, especially Year 6 who will soon be going through the doors for the last time. Good luck to them for a new beginning in September.
