Dear Parents,

Haiti Earthquake Appeal

Last Monday we had our non uniform day and cake sale to raise money for Haiti Earthquake Appeal. The total raised was £350 which is fantastic. At the moment we are looking into collaborating with other community groups and jointly purchasing a shelter box at a cost of £480.
Thank you to everyone involved.

Education Sunday

This years' service will take place on Sunday 28th February at St Andrew's Church. Revd Simon Brignall and I look forward to welcoming you and your family at 10.00am.

Coaches

We have had a requested from one of the coach drivers to make parents aware that in the mornings he is often held up by parents pulling in to drop off children.
Please use consideration at these busy times.

Hot Meals

Any more survey replies welcome. As a result of your responses to date, the governing body has decided to go ahead with implementation at the beginning of the summer term. More details to follow.

Coats

Please make sure you bring a well labelled coat to school everyday.

Dogs

I have recently been aware that some owners have brought dogs onto the school premises. Please remember that in the interests of the health of all pupils, staff and visitors that this is not permitted. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Website

Please visit our website www.standrewsyetminster.org.uk from which you can access Tesco and many other stores to make your on line purchases or to buy school uniform. Doing this directly raises money for our school through the 'affiliates' scheme. To date we have raised well over £300.

The website is, however, far more than simply a money raiser. It is a vibrant and exciting insight into the life of our school and through its regular use you can avail yourself of important 'newsletters' or 'school news' which may have been lost in transit between home and school.

Don't forget to use the Contact Us link to give feedback about the site.

Early Warning School Closure due to weather

Please check our website before making your journey to school if in doubt.

Bus Children

The policy of the Education Transport Department is that if buses do not run in the morning, they will not run in the afternoons- even if the weather improves. If I am notified by one of the bus companies that their buses are not running in the morning, I will be available from about 8am to answer queries.
If parents choose to bring children to school in the morning they must also collect them in the afternoon. When road and weather conditions are 'marginal' it is up to individual bus drivers to decide whether or not to operate as it is felt that each driver is the best judge of what condition are likely to be on his particular route.

In the event of extreme weather during the school day, parents are advised to contact the school to make arrangement for the collection of their children. All pupils will remain in the care of school staff until parents arrive. Please note that, on an occasion such as this, I have decided that no child will travel home by bus in order to avoid the possibility of them arriving home to an empty house.
