Class Ash blog
Class Ash children have been busy blogging about all sorts of things this year. Our class blog is a place to share writing, we are part of a "quadblog" which is a group of 4 schools who take it in turns to visit each others blogs each week and leave comments. We also take part in a weekly writing challenge which is for children under 16 from all around te globe to take part. We have had two of our class "showcased" so far this year; this is when several of the team of commenters recommend a piece of writing.
Blogging is a fabulous way for children to write about their interests outside school and one of the best things is that they can receive feedback on their writing. All comments are moderated by me before they "go live".
Please pay it a visit and leave a comment by clicking "leave a comment" . Email addresses are needed on the form but are never shown on the blog. The children love seeing their work on their own class blog and especially love receiving comments. It means that their writing has a real sense of purpose and is read by a wide audience. So far our blog has been visited by over 3000 visitors from all around the world! You can see where in the world they have come from on the flag counter (from Mrs Halford)
Clubs / activities
Lunchtime and after school clubs and activities have begun. If you would like further information please see Mrs McVeigh in the school office.
Dates for the term
Showing assembly dates have been set for the spring term - please check out below for the dates for your child's class. Please note - not all the showing assemblies are on Friday.
Dorset School League Tables
The Department for Education (DfE) recently published the Primary performance tables for results from 2011. The DfE table placed St Andrew's CE Primary School joint first out of 172 schools in Dorset when measured by the percentage of children achieving Level 4 or better. 100% of our children achieved Level 4 or above. Furthermore, the tables can be found by clicking on the links and then clicking on the 2011 column to order the results.
There are a range of methods to assess children's progress and judge how well a school is doing, but we are very pleased with the progress shown by our children in the performance tables.
Touch typing After School Club
The touch typing club will run again after half term. More news next week!
Music tuition
We have a wide range of music tuition available in school. Teachers, instruments and times are listed below:
Paul Huddleston: Drums - Thursday afternoon from January
Christine Dickerson: Tuesday; piano
