VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE WALK UP AND BACK PLEASE!
Our end of term church service has been slightly rearranged. It will be on the same day, Friday the 8th April, but will be at 1.30pm. However, we do need volunteers to walk up and back with us. If you are able to help that would be fantastic. Please see Sandra in the office to put your name down - thank you in advance. If you come to help you will be able to take your children home from school early, just after we have arrived back.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Eco Day - Wednesday 31st March
Mrs Locke would like to say a massive thank you to all the children, parents, grandparents, PTA, Governors and staff who combined to make this Eco day one of the most successful ever. The atmosphere in school was wonderful - full of enthusiasm, excitement and endeavour. We achieved so much - sorting the growing beds, sorting the compost, tidying and organising the conservation area, planting 50+ trees and designing and making crosses for RE.
We are also planning a spiritual garden area and would like to ask anyone with any ideas or donations to approach school, Mrs Locke or myself, to discuss them. We welcome your involvement in the future of our school.

Sport at St Andrew's
Our football teams played well last week in a tournament at Abbey Primary School in Sherborne. The girls played brilliantly, scoring many goals. Thea scored 1, Ethne 2 and Josie scored 2, including 1 from a goal kick. They made the final where, despite playing brilliantly, they lost to Buckland Newton. The impact of blisters was mentioned by several of the team!
The boys team didn't lose a match, but unfortunately went out in the semi-finals after a penalty shootout following a drawn match.
Thankyou to Mrs Mitchell, Mrs Bryant, Mrs Baulch, Mr Reeves, Mrs Buckland, Mrs Boa and Mr Hunt for helping with transport.
Well done to both teams.

Pick-up after school
Could everyone who drops off and picks up their children by car please remember to keep clear of the yellow lined area throughout the drop off / pick up period. I do realise that the buses / taxis and mini buses are usually finished by certain times, but sometimes they are delayed / late and need access outside of the normal time and it does create significant delay and adds to the risk if there are private vehicles parked in the yellow zone. Please feel free to park in the staff spaces if any are free. Thankyou for your understanding in this matter.

School uniform sale
The school uniform sale was very successful today. Thankyou to all who came and made savings on nearly new uniform and thankyou to the governors and PTA for organising it. We are a little short of items for 7-8 year olds, particularly shirts, so if you could donate any unused items that would be great.
Remember - you will be able to buy items outside of sale dates - please ask at the office.

Tesco and Sainsbury vouchers
We are actively and enthusiastically collecting vouchers from Tesco to buy ICT equipment and Sainsbury's to buy sports and play equipment. All donations gratefully received. Let's try and make this a record breaking year.

Remember - we have fantastic early morning breakfast provision!
Angela Hole and Daphne Blakey run our welcoming and fun Breakfast Club. Prices are very reasonable. £2 for care after 7.30am up to school opening at 8.30am, £2.50 includes breakfast. Ring school on 01935 872430 or ask Sandra or myself in the office. Also, if you are unable to book, don't worry - you can bring your child to Breakfast Club with no notice if required. Look forward to seeing you.

Reading and phonics
As part of our ongoing work to support parents in helping their children to learn to read we felt it would be useful to you to take part in one of our phonic sessions with your child. These sessions take place daily from 1.10pm to 1.30pm. If you are interested please speak to me in the morning to check that our phonic session will be taking place as normal.
If you are interested in listening to readers either first thing in the morning or at the end of the day we would love to hear from you. A big thank you to all our existing helpers and to everyone for listening to their child / children read on a daily basis at home.
Fiona Payne, Reception classteacher
