3. We talked about the need to have completed a formal environmental review by the end of this term to gain silver eco status.
4. Eco day - 22nd Sept.
Mrs Locke talked about the ideas for this day:-
• Assembly based on how far our food travels
• Whole school litter pick - teams in sports day colour- The team liked the idea of a litter pick. They will design certificates for the winning team.
• Whole School poem - each child to write a line on an A3 strip. Eco Action team would like to sort the poem into themes and collate. This will then be typed up and displayed.
• Bulb planting and planting shrubs in the bed Mr Locke is going to build near entrance.
• Activities run by the Young People's Trust for the Environment.
• Closing Assembly - winning team of litter pick announced.
5. Eco- meeting minutes - Mrs Locke suggested that the older children may like to take the minutes and place them on the website.

Items discussed.
• Bug Month.

Holly and Chestnut Classes have undertaken activities connected with this.
Willow Class will soon undertake the audit and design bug hotels. This will mean we can gain medals to go towards the Green Flag award.
• Eco - Code.

All the classes have made and painted a tile. Most are now out of the kiln. They will soon be arranged to create a fabulous Eco code - thanks to Mrs Neate Clegg and Mrs Pepper.

• Eco day - 17th June
This is national 'Green Day' so there will be certain activities to undertake (details to follow!) The Hut will be repaired and the Conservation area will need clearing. Mrs Locke will try and contact bat preservation societies with the aim of having a speaker come into school so we can build bat boxes to encourage bats to nest.
Mrs Locke will also invite a visitor in to talk about food miles.

• Fund Raising.
We are keen to try and get some money for each class to have a raised bed to grow vegetables/ flowering plants and a greenhouse, not necessarily where the sand pit is but perhaps on the grass situated close to Pre School. We plan to grow vegetables for snack time and plants to sell at school fairs. There is money available from the Yetminster Fair and the Yetminster and Ryme Parish Council. A local contact will put our case forward if letters are written from the children. We decided each class should contribute. The Eco Council will choose the best 5 from each class. Letters need to be completed by half-term please and need to begin with 'Dear Garth…'
