Special Events - CHESTNUT CLASS - class teacher Jane Prelogauskas & Mellina Wall - TRIP TO THE WATER TREATMENT WORKS AT SUTTON BINGHAM

Introduction | Activities Gallery | Special Events | Children's Work | Homework | Links

First we made some sand filters. We had to cut a huge bottle in half. After that we collected some cotton wool, sand and some dirty water. We stuffed the cotton wool into the neck of the bottle.
Next we poured the sand in. We added the dirty water. It trickled through and looked clean. It still had microscopic particles in so couldn't be drunk. Callum H
We saw how the water treatment works cleaned the water and how the chemicals were added to make it safe. We saw the computers which showed the water going to houses. Jessie
We saw lots of machinery and an enormous sieve taking out all the big bits from the reservoir water. Joshua
We saw a huge hole surrounding the tower which went down about 100 metres. we went inside the tower and the tour guide told us how much water the reservoir held. Andrew
