Please keep a check on our school webpage and class blog. www.classash.primaryblogger.co.uk Our class email is ash@yetminster.dorset.sch.uk Best wishes, Mrs K Halford, Mrs S Willis Class Ash teachers Dear Parents, To give the children an opportunity to write for an audience I have set up a class blog. You can find the link on our class page on the school web page. Go to Classes, Ash, links and click on blog. Alternatively it can be directly accessed at www.classash.primaryblogger.co.uk I am very excited about this and have spoken to the children about how it will work. I would like the children to email me pieces of writing about anything that excites/interests them. This could be a recount of a trip/holiday, a poem, a story, about something they have done in school or at home. I will then upload to the blog. I will read work through before posting of course. They can also use the comments form and comment on any blog posts. The idea is for the children to be writing for a real audience. I would be very grateful for parents, family members and friends to leave comments on the blog so the children can see that their work has been read. (All comments have to be approved before they are published as an internet safety measure). The blog is in addition to our school website; the main difference being that their writing can be commented on and there is the opportunity for them to receive feedback on their writing. Children will be given opportunities in school to do this as well, and if they don't have access to a computer at home please make me aware of this so I can find extra opportunities for them to participate. To protect the children, photos of them will never be uploaded to the blog without parental permission and only first names will be used. I will be managing the site, nothing can go on unless it has been approved by me. An exciting new feature to our blog has been added for this year; David Mitchell, acting headteacher of Heathfield Primary school in Bolton, has set up Quadblogging. This means we have been linked with 3 other schools (one in Australia, one in Sussex and one in Norfolk) The classes will take turns to be the focus blog. This means that the blog will have an even larger audience and the children will have a chance to find out more about each other's schools. I would welcome your comments. Please try to follow our blog. Thank you. Kind regards, Mrs Halford. St Andrew's Primary Yetminster Sherborne April 26th 2011 Dear Parents, Welcome back to a new school term .
