AFRICAN ARTS WEEK MOSAIC

Class 4 made a start on the mosaic doing ..

..a leopard, ostich..

..and hippo.

I am glad I've got small fingers/

Class 5 had the challenge of making the shield, ..

..and the drum, which did look a bit like ..

..a burger..

..but it had some lovely colours in it..

..and was fun to make

The shield had some exotic tiles -

small and large millefiori..

..with a spine of real gold on glass.

There the last tile in the drum.

Class 1 did the lion which had some gorgeous hot colours in it..

..reds, oranges, yellows..

..shall I put this bit here or here?

We placed the tiles onto the sticky side..

..of sticky back plastic placed on the design.

Class 6 had the African lady and her baby to do..

..and used special black glass nuggets, upsidedown..

..because we are using the indirect method.

They also did the roof of hut..

..which was surprisingly difficult.

All the animals 9and human) will be flipped onto a board.

The lion will have a black ceramic nose

The finished drum ( not a double decker sandwich).

The gold line shows blue on this side.

Our lady has a Kenti patterned dress and a red scarf to carry her baby in.

Reception made this excellent zebra which will have a clay fringe, ears, nose and tail.

The Hut roof has a mask hanging on it..

..which looks great.

Class 4's leopard has brown glas beads for his spots.

Class 1 had the giraffe to make using beige, brown and orange glass nuggets..

..which add a differnt texture.
