DESIGN TECHNOLOGY bridge building

During the design process of our bridges we had fun making bridges out of spaghetti and marshmallows.

We made two triangular prisms held together with marshmallows and we put pennies into a paper basket.

Moving onto our challenge, we designed our bridges using only paper and tape to span a gap of 30cm.

We made very strong thin tubes which we joined together with tape. These were then decorated.

We tested our bridges with weights to see how much load they would carry.

The bridges also had to have side sto stop things like cars falling of the bridge.

This bridge withsttod a load of 26kg without breaking.

Some bridges had elaborate trusses and vertical struts.

Others had the feminine touch.

The overall winner which carried the greatest load whilst being the lightest bridge. Well done girls.
