Christmas fabric wreaths in Chestnut Class

As part of our craft making for the PTA Christmas we made Christmas wreaths our of colourful textiles which we cut into discs and threaded them onto wire.Some choice for have lots of different textures and colours, and others a more formal repeating pattern. I think they look gorgeous and will look super gracing your walls over the festive period.

What's in a Name - Chestnut

We have been exploring our new class name - drawing chestnut loeaves and conkers, make clay leaf imprints and designing our clas name in clay and mosaic. Click on our mosaic name to see our work.

Chestnut Class have been exploring Habitats

In Science and Art we have been looking at habitats. In Art we used powder paints to mix various shades of green. After finding out about adaptation we designed a creature that was perfectly adapted to it's habitat.

STORYBOOKS WITH MOVING PARTS

In DT this term we have been investigating books with moving parts. We made about six different moving parts ourselves - flaps,mouth folds, box folds, rotators, sliders and springs. We then wrote our own stories and added moving parts to make them more fun. Enjoy watching our short films of our books.

Visit to the water treatment works at Sutton Bingham

We went to Sutton Bingham and learnt all about how water is cleaned to make it safe to drink. We learnt about how the reservoir is used.

Down on the farm

Much excitement ensued when we had the chance to feed two three week old piglets. They were very well behaved and were a fun addition to the class for half an hour!

PIRATE DAY IN CLASS 4

We had a fantastic Pirate Day singing pirate songs, making pirate ships, watching pirate videos and getting pirate names. Mrs Neate-Clegg name was "Glynis the well tanned" - what was yours?

DODGEBALL

Lee Cuff, who often runs TEAMTHEME sessions at school, came in to school and taught us the basic rules and tactics of this fast paced game. Have a look at our pictures. If you go to special events you can read our thoughts.

Christmas cards

This year we made our cards using Dazzle on the computer. We were inspired by Tudor stained glass windows, and used these for ideas. Our designs are symmetrical. We used our word processing skills to put the greeting inside. I thought that the children's designs were fabulous.

Getting ready for Christmas in Class 4

We have been busy getting ready for the festive season. We have made cool reindeer, decorated our classroom using recycled materials, made fab Christmas cards (look out for these in the New Year- don't want to spoil the surprise!) and written poems... Lots more. Take a look and see some of our work.

OUR TUDOR SHOWING ASSEMBLY

In the run up to our exciting African Arts Week we have been designing "natural scuptures" in the style of Andy Goldsworthy of African animals.Enjoy looking at them!

SOLIDS AND LIQUIDS

We have been having fun in science looking at Solids and Liquids. Can you imagine how tasty a solid marshmallow is dipped into warm melted chocolate? DELICIOUS.
We have aslo been separating different solids using collanders, sieves and even.. a magnet.
