 The maids also had to work very hard doing all the cleaning and sweeping, there were no vacuum cleaners in the Victorian times. |
 The maids would have to serve the lady of the house. They would work very hard. |
 The rich men would wear smart clothes and top hats. They would have maids to work for them. |
 There was still lots of work to do. Once the clothes had been through the mangle to squeeze out the water, they would need to be hung out to dry. When they were dry it was time to do the ironing. Each flat iron would be warmed on the stove. |
 Wash day was hard work. The water would be warmed over a stove. Then the soap would be grated and the clothes scrubbed clean with a wash board. |
 We learnt all about homes in the Victorian times. We found out that lots has changed and our homes nowadays are very different. |
 We have been particularly learning about life in the Victorian times for both rich and poor people. To help us find out more we dressed up and spent some time being Victorians. |
