SPECIAL ASSEMBLY FOR REVEREND RINGER, OUR CHAIR OF GOVERNORS The children read out special messages to say how much they appreciated having the Reverend in their lives. He has been a very important part of our school and remains our Chair of Governors until the summer but leaves his post as Parish Priest this Easter. He wil be retiring to his new home in Bridport. "Reverend Ringer is always there for us, so we all want to say a HUGE THANK YOU and hope you have a lovely time in your new home. Come back and visit us soon". Click on his pic for more comments.
THE GREAT SCHOOL RUN... or was it the great school swim. The heavens opened as we all started the run but the stoic children and their teachers carried on regardless. Well done to everyone.
WORKING WITH THE GRYPHON STAFF Children in classes 2,3,4 and 5 spent an afternoon working with Science teachers from the Gryphon School, Sherborne.

Year 6 of 2006 Leavers' Party Year 6 having a final fling at their leavers' party, sad to say goodbye to all their primary school friends.
It's A KNOCKOUT is COMING HOME The 7th annual It's a Knockout was held this year at Thornford CE Primary School on Saturday 24th June 2006. The theme this year was famous films and our team led by our Captain Jackie Pitcher was representing the Sound of Music. Following six games of physical skill and mental intrigue we pipped all the other six schools to the post winning with a very healthy 48 points. And if that wasn't honour enough we will be hosting it next year eight years after its inception by our PTA. Team members were Jackie and Mark Pitcher, Alex and Gavin Locke, Sam Willis, Vicky Brinsford (who also organised our super cheerleaders), Colin Hart and last but by no means least, Nick Clegg. Thank you to all team members, cheerleaders and supporters.
Tesco Great School Run June 21st 2006 St Andrew's took part in the Tesco Great School Run in June. This was a whole school event in which pupils, staff and parents took part. We all ran several laps of our playing field - some children ran 19 laps!!
World Cup Football Tournament - Weymouth - June 2006 A squad of 11 children from Class 4 took part in a World Cup Football Tournament in Weymnouth. We represented the Ivory Coast and played in the national colours. We didn't win, but we had a fantastic day!!
SCIENCE NETWORK CHALLENGE Six children from Year 4 went to Sherborne Abbey primary school on Wednesday June 21st to take part iin a science challenge day. There were children from both Sherborne schools, William Barnes, Stalbridge and ourselves. They had to make buggies powered by wind, elastic or balloons. Click to see all the pictures.
Sherborne Schools Recorder workshop - 27th April 2006. 24 children from Years 3,4 and 5 went to the Sherborne Abbey School. We played a piece by Mozart with recorder players from schools in the local area - it was great fun and sounded fantastic! Mozart would have been extremely proud of us!
We played a piece by ourselves to the other schools in the local area.
We enjoyed listening to a recorder consort perform. We learnt about the many different recorders in the recorder family. We particularly liked the sound of the contra bass recorder.
Police Visit February 2006 P.C. Day visited Class 3 to talk about how the police help people in our community. The visit supported our Citizenship work this term.
Sponsored Skip March 2006 The whole school took part in a sponsored skip in March. We raised enough money to buy a new kiln. The children had to skip or participate in skipping activities for 30 minutes. It was tiring - but great fun!

Arts' Week Summer 2005 This term we spent an exciting week developing our skills in a variety of art forms. We had visits from potters, artists and musicicans. We looked at art from around the world and produced lots of interesting pieces of work.
Streetwise visit June 2005 Classes 2 and 5 went to the Streetwise Safety Centre in Bournemoutb. The children learnt about some of the ways to keep safe in the home, at the park, beach and in town. They also learnt about road safety and how to call the emergency services.

Books at Bedtime 26th January 2005 It's great to have a story read to you when your wrapped up warmly and ready for bed especially when your cuddling your favourite teddy!!
Non Uniform Day 12th January 2005 The children raised a magnificent £590.00 in their recent non uniform day. Each child earned a sum by involving themselves in tasks around their home and this was donated to the appeal. Find out some of the things they did by clicking on the photo.
