Red Nose Day! Friday March 18th
Today was Red Nose Day. Thank you for your generosity and participation in the Wake and Shake this morning. Well done to all those parents who took part, wore red or costumes. The Cowboy (Mr Henry) and the Indians (Mr Crocker and Mr Curtis) were particularly fine, as was the Construction Worker (Mrs Curtis), although I'm not sure what connection Arnie as The Terminator had to YMCA (well done Gavin - we need to get you a Harley Davidson!). Mrs Read I didn't recognise until after the event. Thanks to all for your help and generosity. £171.59 was raised by St Andrew's, with £48.39 from St Andrew's Pre-school - a great total.Holly Showing Assembly - REARRANGED!
Don't forget that the Holly Showing Assembly will now be on Thursday, March 24th at 2.30pm.Sport at St Andrew's
Our cross country team competed at the Gryphon last Friday. Our teams were made up ofEthne, Lucy and Josie for the girls (all Willow class) and Callum H., Callum S., James, Andrew and Harry for the boys (Willow and Ash classes).
Both teams ran superbly. Harry finished highest of our boys (and 5th overall), whilst Ethne finished highest for our girls (and 3rd overall). Following a controversial decision, we first won the girls' trophy then didn't win it. Well done to everyone.
Thankyou to Mrs Halford for training and organising the running club and to the parents who helped with transport.
On Wednesday, March 16th, our football team played in the Sherborne Partnership Football Tournament. The following report was written by Andrew, who is in Year 6 / Willow class:
"Trent 0 - 0 St Andrew's
We got off to a great start with close chances by Callum S. and Andrew. In the second half Trent were close to scoring but the safe hands of Callum H. kept the scores equal to the end of the match.
Abbey 1-1 St. Andrew's
It was a close start as Abbey had lots of chances but yet again Callum H. saved them. But on the brink of half-time Lewis went for a wonder shot and scored! But straight after half-time Abbey scored and it stayed like that to the end.
Buckland Newton 0-3 St Andrew's
Brilliant start to the match as Callum S. very nearly scored. But then Ethan chipped the keeper nad scored. And straight after the restart (I) Andrew scored by a great curling chip over the goalkeeper. After half-time Andrew whipped in a corner and Lewis scored. We held on to win and go to the semi-final.
Semi-final
Sherborne Primary 1-0 St Andrew's
A nervy start didn't help us as an early goal passed Callum H's fingers for a 1-0 lead to Primary. But St. Andrew's kept trying to search for the equaliser but it ended 1-0. Our competition was over."
I'm not sure whether winning 3-0 means we "held on to win" but then I don't know too much about football. Well done to Andrew for the brilliantly written report and a big well done to the football team and their coach, Mr Higson-Guy, for doing so well.
