Australian Charity Fund Raiser for flood victims
We raised the whopping total of £89.96. Well done to the School Council for coming up with the idea, the School Council for raising awareness and organising it, Miss Coysh, Mrs Hole, Mrs Cunningham and PTA members for helping to sell (and no doubt, eat) the gorgeous cakes. And a big thank you as always to all parents, relations and friends who donated their time, effort and cakes to the appeal. We will be sending the money through the Commonwealth Bank Flood Appeal website.
Home school agreement
Would parents / carers please complete any outstanding Home-School Agreements and send them into school after half term. Thankyou.
Sport at St Andrew's
It was a pity we had to cancel our football and netball matches on Tuesday as I know the children were greatly looking forward to them. It was a joint decision between us and Sherborne Primary School based wholely on concerns for the safety of our children.
There are more matches scheduled for next half term - check out the calendar for dates and information.
The annual summer term sports day dates have been changed since last week. Check the dates list below and the website calendar. KS1 & KS2 will both enjoy their sports days on July 7th.
Reading and phonics
As part of our ongoing work to support parents in helping their children to learn to read we felt it would be useful to you to take part in one of our phonic sessions with your child. These sessions take place daily from 1.10pm to 1.30pm. If you are interested please speak to me in the morning to check that our phonic session will be taking place as normal.
If you are interested in listening to readers either first thing in the morning or at the end of the day we would love to hear from you. A big thank you to all our existing helpers and to everyone for listening to their child / children read on a daily basis at home.

Football at lunchtime
It has been a longstanding agreement at St Andrew's that Thursday be football free. This is mainly so that the younger ones and those who don't play football have a chance to enjoy the playground and field fully without the fear they will be hit by balls or enthusiastic children running after balls. Unfortunately, several children were injured this week and in the last few weeks as the football free rule was ignored. We thought it would be a good idea to encourage all our St Andrew's children to rediscover other games and activities for the week after half term. Skipping ropes and card games (such as Top Trumps - a favourite of mine) are possible alternatives. Those children in Key Stage 1 classes (Acorns, Holly and Oak) will be able to play football. Netball and basketball will be available for all.
Early Arriver's Club
Angela Hole and Daphne Blakey run our welcoming and fun Early Arrivers' Club. Prices are very reasonable. £2 for care after 7.30am up to school opening at 8.30am, £2.50 includes breakfast. Ring school on 01935 872430 or ask Sandra in the office. Also, if you are unable to book, don't worry - you can bring your child to Early Arrivers with no notice if required. Look forward to seeing you!
