Red Nose Day! Friday March 18th

Next week is Red Nose Day on Friday. For a humorous and healthy start to the day we will be having a joint parent and child Wake And Shake at 8.45 am on the playground. Wear something red, practise the moves to YMCA (although I cannot guarantee we will play this, it will get you in the mood) and bring a pound (of money). Photos will be taken so prepare for the worst. Red hats always go down well! And, in advance, thankyou for your generosity.

Holly Showing Assembly - REARRANGED!

The Holly Showing Assembly was going to be Friday, March 18th. This has changed. Sorry for the late notice. It will now be on Thursday, March 24th at 2.30pm. Apologies to parents / carers who may have made arrangements to come next Friday, but due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to change the date.

Sport at St Andrew's

Our Year 4/5 netball and football teams played on Tuesday against Trent Young Primary School. Like last week they played extremely well. Our netball team played brilliantly but, unfortunately lost narrowly 3-4. Courageous captain Charis reported that Lily-Mae 'played really well and Rosie is really good at shooting'. Rosie scored 2 goals, with Grace getting the other. 'Both teams played well,' said Charis, 'and well done to Trent'
Our football team, playing in slightly warmer conditions than last week, drew 1-1. Rhys, our captain, reported that 'Joe saved many shots - he played really well'. Rhys thought that Trent played better in the first half but we outplayed them in the second half. By the way, Rhys scored the St Andrew's goal.
Both teams played in a great spirit - well done to all the children for representing the school so well. Thankyou to Trent Youngs for being such good opponents. Thankyou again to all parents who came to cheer us on.

Mrs Pitcher's dip!

Mrs Pitcher would like to say thankyou to all the warm messages of support and condolence following her unplanned dip in the school pond this week.

End of term Church service

Our end of term church service has been slightly rearranged. It will be on the same day, Friday the 8th April, but will be at 1.30pm. Parents / carers who join us will be able to take their children home from St Andrew's Church (just make sure the children have got everything they need to take home). Also, if anyone would like to join us on the walk up from school at about 1pm, that would be lovely. We look forward to seeing you there.

Tesco and Sainsbury vouchers

We are actively and enthusiastically collecting vouchers from Tesco to buy ICT equipment and Sainsburys to buy sports and play equipment. All donations gratefully received. Let's try and make this a record breaking year.

Parent's evenings

Thankyou to all parents who came to our first parents evening this term. Next week, it is on Thursday, March 17th. If you have received confirmation of a date and time but found this inconvenient, please let us know as soon as possible. We look forward to seeing you next week. If there are any issues you would ever like to talk to us about your child / children please do not hesitate to contact us at any point in the school year.

Remember we have fantastic early morning breakfast provision!

Angela Hole and Daphne Blakey run our welcoming and fun Breakfast Club. Prices are very reasonable. £2 for care after 7.30am up to school opening at 8.30am, £2.50 includes breakfast. Ring school on 01935 872430 or ask Sandra or myself in the office. Also, if you are unable to book, don't worry - you can bring your child to Breakfast Club with no notice if required. Look forward to seeing you.

Bag2School 24th March

Can I remind you to try and find some old, unwanted clothes to donate to raise money for our pre-school. Thankyou.

Reading and phonics

As part of our ongoing work to support parents in helping their children to learn to read we felt it would be useful to you to take part in one of our phonic sessions with your child. These sessions take place daily from 1.10pm to 1.30pm. If you are interested please speak to me in the morning to check that our phonic session will be taking place as normal.
If you are interested in listening to readers either first thing in the morning or at the end of the day we would love to hear from you. A big thank you to all our existing helpers and to everyone for listening to their child / children read on a daily basis at home.
Fiona Payne, Reception classteacher

Messy Play

On April 10th, a Sunday, there is a Messy Church activity afternoon. All are welcome. Please ring 01935 872600 to book. It will be a relaxed couple of hours from 3pm to 5pm with crafts, songs, food and lots of fun.
